Pastor of Youth & Young Adults

Summary:      The Pastor of Youth & Young Adults is responsible to give vision, direction, oversight and structure to Youth & Young Adults of Bucks County Community Church (BCCC).  The core purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through biblical instruction, fellowship and outreach opportunities in both arenas. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Youth Ministry

 

Summary: The Pastor of Youth & Young Adults is responsible to give vision, direction,

oversight and structure to the Youth Ministry and all community life groups of Bucks County

Community Church (BCCC). The core purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through

biblical instruction, fellowship and outreach opportunities in both arenas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Spiritual

1. Commit the work of Youth Ministry to faithful prayer.

2. Develop committed followers of Jesus through Youth Ministry.

3. Plan and / or support evangelistic events through Youth Ministry

4. Provide spiritual, theological and moral training through formal and informal teaching.

5. Equip volunteers and lay leaders to assist in the shepherding process.

 

Relational

1. Help to resolve conflict when it arises between parents, leaders or students.

2. Keep parents informed of what is happening in Youth Ministry.

3. Plan monthly activities, separate from Sunday evening Youth Ministry gathering, to

stimulate community and opportunity for discipleship and outreach among youth.

4. Work with Children’s Ministry to integrate 5th graders into Youth Ministry.

5. Work with key ministry leaders of other “in house” ministries to provide learning

opportunities through workshops, seminars and small groups that will help parents and

volunteers.

 

Administrative

1. Develop vision, direction and goals that are in line with those of BCCC annually.

2. Recruit and train all teachers and assistants in Youth Ministry and youth Sunday

School.

3. Organize and run training and planning meetings with youth staff and/or teachers.

4. Prepare and manage Youth Ministry budget.

5. Evaluate and select curriculum for Youth Ministry.

6. Review and update Youth Ministry policies when necessary

 

Young Adults

 

Spiritual

1.     Commit the work of Young Adults to faithful prayer.

2.     Lead Young Adults Ministry to faithfully develop committed followers of Jesus.

3.     Plan and / or support evangelistic events through Young Adults

4.     Provide spiritual, theological and moral training through formal and informal teaching.

      a.     Plan weekly, mid-week discipleship group(s) for developing committed and core individuals

      b.     Plan annual retreat for concentrated spiritual focus.

5.      Equip volunteers and lay leaders to assist in the shepherding process.

 

Relational

1.     Help to resolve conflict when it arises.

2.     Keep information flowing via email and other relevant media.

3.     Seek opportunities to engage and encourage individual spiritual growth

 

Administrative

1.     Develop vision, direction and goals that are in line with those of BCCC annually.

2.     Recruit and train core team leaders

3.   Organize and run training and planning meetings with core leaders

4.   Prepare and manage Young Adult Ministry budget.  

5.   Evaluate and select discipleship material.

 

General

1.     Assist the Lead Pastor with discipleship, community building and pastoral care responsibilities.

2.     Collaborate with the Pastor and lay leaders to develop and execute the vision of BCCC to make mature disciples who make disciples.

3.     Attend Elder meetings

4.     Attend Leadership Prayer Breakfasts

 

Qualifications:

  •        Has a clear calling to the office of pastor and a lifestyle consistent with the qualifications explained in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  •        Demonstrates a steadfast commitment to doctrinal and relational maturity with the desire for ongoing personal, spiritual growth.
  •        Exhibits clear evidence of strong integrity, maturity, and morality.
  •        Be willing to work a non-traditional, flexible work schedule in order to accommodate typical ministry needs and demands.
  •        Ability to manage and work well with others in all age groups and maturity levels.
  •        Bachelor’s degree in Bible or related theological degree, or commensurate ministry training, experience and aptitude.
  •        Commitment to and passion for evangelism within the context of the local church, the surrounding community and the world.
  •        Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
  •        Genuine commitment to the ministry and mission of BCCC.
  •        Full agreement with the doctrinal statement of BCCC.
  •        Willingness and commitment to put the needs, interests and unity of the church ahead of personal preference or conviction.
  •        Clear demonstration of humility and a teachable spirit.
  •        Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
