Bucks County Community Church

Children's Ministry

Goal

Here at Bucks, we strive to create a loving environment that nurtures children in their understanding and relationship with God. Through Bible teaching, activities, games and songs, we strive to give the children a strong Biblical foundation on which they can build their lives. We seek to help parents train their children in the way they should go that they would become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to not only help your child grow in their understanding of God, His amazing love, and His Word, but to also help you be successful parents in raising your children.

“Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it.”  Proverbs 22:6

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matt. 22:37)

Information Section

We want to make sure you know and understand how our Sunday School works. We want to make it as easy as we can to walk into our classroom on a Sunday Morning. We want you to have the answers to make you and your child comfortable while you are here.

  • Two Services

Our Church has two services. One at 8:45am and a second at 10:30am. Sunday School is offered for ages infant-5th grade for both services. Our classrooms can be found on the lower level, under the sanctuary.

Grades 1st-5th stay upstairs in the sanctuary until song time is over, during second service. For first service, all children can be down stairs at 8:45.

  • Drop Off

If you are dropping your kids off for the first time to our Sunday School, we ask the parents to fill out an information sheet. This gives us information about your child that we might need that day. Emergency Contacts. Allergies. Parent’s phone number. There is also information on there that we could use to let you know about future events happening in the children’s ministry.

Children can hang their coats on a hook in class. They are allowed to bring their Bible to class, but we ask that other personal belongings stay in their cubby.

    Infant and Toddler Room:

Please label bottles or cups. (older classes do not need cups- they get to go to the water fountain.)

  • Pick Up

When picking up your child from their classroom, the teacher will be standing at the door. The teacher will call your child over, they will collect their own belongings and come out to the hallway with you.

  • Moving Up to the Next Classroom

The toddler class moves up when your child turns 3. The Toddler Room Teacher will start a conversation with the Preschool Teacher for when your child will move up.

The Preschool Room moves up at 3 or 4 times a year. The PreK Teacher will contact you when it is getting close to move up time.

1st-5th grade runs on a school year rotation. Move up happens the first week of September.

  • Classwork Given Out

Each classroom has handouts that are given to the child. These are not meant to be torture, instead they are an opportunity to get back into God’s Word. There are questions and games to be a reminder of what they learned. They are also good talking points for the parents, because our goal in the Sunday School is to be a support to what you, as parents, are teaching at home. We want you to be able to go over these bible lessons with your children as well.

Some classes give incentives or rewards for doing the work at home. The goal is not to make getting a prize be the reason for doing the work, but the goal is to learn even more about God’s wonderful plan all throughout scripture.

  • Teachers

Each of our lead teachers is a member of our church, and has filled out a statement of belief to confirm that they will be teaching what our church believes. All of our leaders and teachers has clearances on file, Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse History Clearance.

Questions

This is a simple Question and Answer time. If you have a question that is not answered here, then you can email rachael@buckschurch.org.

  • Where do I take my child?

The children’s wing is downstairs under the sanctuary. Classrooms are on the left and right. Signs are over the doors to let you know what classroom it is.

There is a door that leads to the parking lot.

  • How  will I be contacted if there is an issue with my child during class?

When you drop your child off in the classroom, you need to fill out a form. This form has your phone number on it. This information is kept in our computer system and can be found by the lead teacher in either service. If there is an issue with your child, you will be contacted by phone- Text or Phone Call. (Keep your phone on silent in the sanctuary, but where you can see or feel the vibrating)

  • Can my child invite friends?

Yes. We love when children invite their friends to Sunday School, or any children’s ministry event. When they are dropped off in a class we will still need information on them, so please have contact-information ready.

  • Who can pick up my child?

On the back of the information form there was a spot to write who is able to pick up your child. If you want to go back and change a name or add a name you are able to do that at any time.

  • My child has an allergy, what should I do?

Let the lead teacher know if your child has an allergy. It should be written on their information form. The Infant room through Prek serves snacks during each service. (Infant room-only when given the approval of the parent) If your child is not able to eat certain foods you can send them in with a snack.

  • Can I pick up my child early from their class?

Yes. Let the teacher know at the beginning of class that you will be coming back early. We want to make sure they can be ready, and get the papers that they need.

  • Do I need to pay anything?

No, we do not expect any payment.

  • What is the mission of the Sunday School at Bucks?

Here at Bucks, we strive to create a loving environment that nurtures children in their understanding and relationship with God. Through Bible teaching, activities, games and songs, we strive to give the children a strong Biblical foundation on which they can build their lives. We seek to help parents train their children in the way they should go that they would become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to not only help your child grow in their understanding of God, His amazing love, and His Word, but to also help you be successful parents in raising your children.

  • What age does the Sunday School teach?

We teach infants(as young as you feel comfortable with) through 5th grade. Once a student graduates from 5th grade they are able to attend youth group during first service or they are still allowed to attend Sunday School, during the summer.

  • What curriculum is being used?

We use different curriculum in different ages, and in different services. We believe there is strength in each of the curriculum that we use.

Toddler- PreK uses LifeWay Gospel Project for both first and second service.

1st grade-5th grade uses Kids Sunday School for first service.

1st grade-3rd grade uses LifeWay Gospel Project for second service.

4th grade-5th grade uses Ken Hamm Answers in Genesis for second service.

  • How can I help?

There are many ways that you can help the Sunday School at Bucks.

    1. Pray for the leaders. To know how to relay God’s Word to every student. To have patience and love at all times. To have energy during class and rest when they need it.

    2. Pray for the children. To hear God’s word and apply it to their lives. To understand the message of the Bible. To obey, listen and not distract others in class. To come to a life-changing relationship with Christ.

    3. Become a teacher or helper in a classroom. We are always in need of help in the classrooms. Come ask Rachael Booth for more information.

    4. Behind the scene work. There is organization roles needed for different classrooms, and programs. If you are crafty or musically talented or have a passion, let me know we can use it!

    5. Give feedback on events, programs, or procedures. We want to improve and run more smoothly. Our goal is to plant seeds of salvation in the lives of every child that comes in this building.

    6. Work with your children at home. Let them see parents who are involved in the Bible and devoted to God.
