4th-5th Grade Giving of Talents

This part of the Giving Back Program, is to show the students the importance of giving of our spiritual gifts in the church. We all function as a group. Everyone has a job to do in order for the church to run smoothly. Not all jobs in the church are big ones that get seen a lot, there are smaller jobs that need to be done as well. We have all been called to serve God, and that looks different for everyone. However, when you are young you may not know what you are good at, what God might be calling you towards. This program is to give them a small taste of where they might be able to give back to God.

We will be meeting in between services(10:00-10:30), in the 3rd grade room, every other week. We will start by talking about what we are doing, why we do it, how it should be done, and praying that God will use our actions to glorify him. After, we will go wherever it is we will be serving that day. (the acts of service change each time.) When we are finished we will go back to the third grade room, and finish by praying. Parents, if you want me to bring your child to the sanctuary I can.

  • March 15th- FIRST Week

    Notes of Encouragement

    - We will be meeting and writing notes of encouragement to those who are not able to make it into church, because of illness, hospital stays, or death in the family.

The care team in our church does an amazing job of reaching out to those in our church.

  • March 29th

    Cleaning Trash

-We will be emptying trash cans and checking the church grounds for trash.

The church grounds team at our church does what they do, so we are inviting and clean for visitors. You never want someone to leave our church because it doesn't look clean.

  • Collecting Communion Cups

This is something that the church does every first Sunday of the month. We do not always have our 'service days' on the first Sunday of the month, but it is something that the students can decide to do on their own time. We do not have to only serve as a group in order to serve God.

  • April 12th

    Help with the Fellowship Cafe

-We will be assisting the fellowship cafe with clean up, set up, washing, sweeping, reorganizing, and whatever they need help with.

In addition, if students would like to prepare a dish (cookies, fruit tray, wraps, eggs) to bring in, it would be a welcome addition to the spread of food.

The hospitality team does a great job of making people feel welcome and loved. They do this with food and conversation- taking the time to talk with those in the fellowship cafe.

  • April 26th

    Greeting

-We will be greeting students as they leave and come into the children's wing. We want students to feel welcome and cared for when they are in our building.

The greeting team is set in place to make sure that visitors are connected with. We want people to feel the love of God when they come in our doors.

-We will be collecting the communion cup from the seats up in the sanctuary.

Many of the leaders in church are having to step away from greeting and meeting with people so they can clean up the building. We want to give them back their time to minister to others, but collecting the cups.

  • June 21st

Talk about what you have learned

-We will be meeting to go over what was learned. What did they enjoy the most? What did they not enjoy? Where could God be wanting to use them in the church? How often should a person serve? How do we know where we are supposed to be?

We don't always know right where we are supposed to be, that doesn't mean we are skilled, it just means we need to keep searching. God has given everyone at least one spiritual gift. We are to give back our talents to God.
